The "C.A.R.S." Cable Assisted Retraction System for our fixed length boat boarding ramps will allow you to raise the ramp from your vessel when you depart the dock and then retrieve the ramp back to a boarding position when you return to the dock. This is easy to do with the use of a boat hook. This system will counter balance our ramps from our PS-4, 4' ramp to our PSE-88, 16' ramp. This system may be ordered with the aluminum mounting post, sized for your ramp, or without the mounting post. If our mounting post is not used, the CARS retraction system may be mounted on a pole, dock post, piling, or any other location that will yield the correct angle for the cable to reach the end of the ramp and retract it.

The RMK Sea Wall/Dock Cable Assisted Retraction System is $3,490.00 plus the cost of the ramp to be used with it.

The RRM Sea Wall/Dock Cable Assisted Retraction System w/o mounting post is $1,990 plus the cost of the ramp to be used with it.

Our ramps are not designed to be cantilevered. They must be supported at both ends either with one of our mounting systems,or be resting on a surface or with a supporting “trapeze arrangement” that will support the wight of the ramp with several people on it.

The cable is for use as a retraction device aid and not able to suport the weight of a person.

When using our C.A.R.S. system with our frame, mount the ramp to the front edge of the dock or mounting surface. Mount the frame to one side and the rear of the ramp mount location. Secure the cable end to the ramp “eye” ring. You may add or remove cable turns on the cable reel to help counter balance the ramp. You may remove one end of the ratchet latching pin spring to disengage the ratchet from operating. This will allow the ramp to move up and down freely. (Caution, doing this will also allow the ramp to move up by itself if it is pushed by the wind or wave action). The rubber ball may be positioned along the cable to provide a stop point for the ramp when being raised. If a storm is coming, please secure the ramp to prevent damage.

Be careful, the cable reel is pre-loaded and under tension.

Take enough turns of the cable off of the reel to go through the pully at the top of the frame and to the ramp when the ramp is in the upright vertical position. (Remove the pully from the mounting bracket to put the cable through it)
To adjust the balance of the ramp, add or remove turns of cable to or from the reel.
